On the 8th October I took part in the 2017 race for life half marathon and it was a great day, and thankfully the weather held off and was a lovely day for the race.
This year I did the race with my bestie Gabi and it was my second half marathon and Gabi’s first. I was so proud of her for completing her first half marathon and we had a lot of fun doing it together.
We ran parts and walked some but we also had a good sing song along the way, with a good Disney song or two which was great for a good bit of motivation.
It was lovely reading everyone’s backs and seeing who it was they was running the race for, whether that was a family member or friend or just for everyone who is fighting the horrible battle against cancer.
This year along with the normal marshals they have around the course they had a choir at one point singing and then few miles up from there they had a band playing music, which was really good and was a good bit of motivation.
It was hard doing the race this year as I was in pain with my leg due to the problem I have with my leg at the moment as a result from the first surgery I had, but that surgery saved my leg and my life so I can take a bit of pain for a while.
It is most defiantly a race I shall be doing every year, and all the money that is raised goes to Cancer research UK which is working so hard on finding new treatments and hopefully one day a cure, but for now it is helping them to find new treatments and helping people fight their battles and saving more lives.
It was such an amazing day and I am already looking forward to next year!!
I said it last year and I’ll say it again, If you haven’t done the race for life before you should look into doing it, as it is really great and you don’t have to do the half or full marathon they do 5k and 10k which are just as good.
