The worst thing i find about hospitals is the waiting game they like to make you play. It's either waiting for a new appointment with them, tests, test results and even when your there you are waiting hours sometimes till you see get to see your doctor.
This game is something i have learnt to master, and unfortunately so do so many others going through the same thing. From a young age people like me have had to learn the long and agonizing thing of waiting to get news back, it drives you mad not knowing and just waiting for that letter or phone call, just to end the waiting.
I have started this game again myself, and i keeping getting told from doctors that I have to have more tests done and i have to now see another doctor at another hospital. Then I am left waiting for days, weeks even to find out when this is all going to happen and what the problem is. I still don't know what is going on with my legs and why I can't walk or stand, but i don't seem to be getting anywhere apart from an even longer version of this waiting game they like us to play!
It's okay for me now as i am older and I can understand what is going on, and know that eventually it will all come together and work itself out. But when your younger you don't really know what is happening, and why you get sent for all these tests and then you wait ages and ages until you see the doctor, and they tell you what is wrong.
But that doesn't make the waiting any less agonizing, in fact come to think of it, it is really that bit harder when your older and dealing with it. When your a kid you don't really know what is going on so you don't worry as much, you just get on with it and then once the tests are done you go off and play. Now I know and understand I am always thinking about it and it makes the waiting time so much longer and harder to handle. When your a kid the worrying was mums job not mine, but now i am the one thinking about it all and worrying.
Yes, it is hard getting through it all and waiting and not knowing, but you have to be tough to get through it and you will come out the other side even tougher! It won't last forever and it will all be worth it in the end!
